HEY DAD,
Finish strong this year...
I bet we have all heard that one saying, “It’s not how you start, but how you finish.” Why does that phrase get used all the time? Probably because it is easy to start something, but a lot harder to see it through to the end. It’s even more challenging to finish strong. And yet, I believe that God’s will for your life, Dad, is to finish strong in anything that you start. You weren’t meant to just barely get by or make it by the skin of your teeth. The same spirit that raised Christ Jesus from the dead dwells on the inside of you, and because of that you have what it takes to finish what you start.
So as we head into December, what if this year you ended it strong, Dad? What if you pursued God hard this December? What if you gave your marriage and your family your very best this month? What if you hit the gym consistently this month? What if you put accountability software on your phone this month? What if you did excellent work and didn’t just mail it in at your job this month? I believe you can do it!
The apostle Paul had this to say about finishing strong in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.” Wouldn’t it be great to say that as 2024 ends?! You fought the good fight and you remained faithful. I believe you can do this dad, and it doesn’t matter how 2024 started for you, let’s finish this year in strength.
Consider Jesus and his life as well. The greatest thing that Jesus did was the last thing He did. He did so many great things throughout His life, but giving His life for the world at the end was the most important. So even if 2024 got off to a rocky start, press on and finish it well. Or if you had some great wins this year, don’t just settle and coast the month of December. Finish this year strong!
Many times, how you finish a season will play a big role in your next season. So instead of seeing January 2025 as a clean slate, see December 2024 as a pivotal month to setup the New Year for success.
This week, meditate on 2 Timothy 4:7 and ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to finish this year strong and to empower you to follow through on it. You got this Dad! I believe in you!
